Hello, let me introduce myself

Hi everyone,

i have been a long time lurker and today finally decided to join :D

I have been a debt free wannebe for a while and have made excellent use of the information here.

12months ago i had a £3000 overdraft, a £4000 credit card bill and still had £7000 left on my loan,

this is were i am at now

Credit card - clear!! (well £105 but i will pay that off fully this month) :j

Overdraft - £1500 and reducing by £500 a month

Loan - 19 months to go and £4750 left

It's a good feeling that i have come so far, and hope that by summer that i will have nothing but my loan to maintain.

Thank you all, it's wonderful finding ways to reduce my costs (almost fun!)

This month i am targeting 2 ways to reduce my outgoings, because i got devorced 2 years ago i haired a YellowBox room, i think i can sell a few bits of funiture and get a smaller room, saving myself £40 a month.

number 2 i am having a new contract on my mobile, going from £40 to £35p/m.

In 3 months i will be out of the overdraft, saving myself £30-40 pounds a month

And my next target is the gym, i am paying £85 a month on Virgin active, i would love to stay with them, so does anyone know of a way i can reduce this and still be with them?
  • Congratulations. Give yourself a big round of applause.

Just a quick bit of advice, were on this forum would be the best place to ask this question?

Not really sure where this would be best asked. I did a quick search of the forum for virgin active but mostly came up with people complaining about the diamond 12month contract.

The only other item I saw that might help was this, its an old article but may have something of use?

How does the amount you are paying compare to what a new member would pay? if a new member would pay less I wonder if you could negotiate? or if you could cancel and then rejoin?

Can't think of anything else - sorry
