"getmore4less" Do you mean how much can we afford to pay each month ?

The leander has informed us the this offer is only for existing customers , I honestly don't think we would even get an offer from another lender, but it wont hurt to have a look around.

We were also amazed that they have put a couple offers on the table for us when only a couple of months ago they wouldn't.
Maybe we should have a quick shop around and see if we can do a little better.
To be honest though Im really leaning towards the 5.49% one, for the peace of mind and knowing what i will be paying each month I think this is the way to go.

Im guessing the property value in the area has gone up again ?? why else have they suddenly done a U-turn ....... strange !

I have only just read this thread - but I was going to suggest that you tried speaking to someone else. The samething happened to us - we owe more than our house is worth and about a year ago we came off a tracker and the first time we spoke to the Halifax they said that we could only go on to their SVR. Then my OH rang a week later and spoke to someone else and they offered him a 5 year fixed at 5.19 for no particular reason except that he had just rung and asked.

So I would try and ring them again and see if you get a better offer.

I was as amazed as you are now.
