Mortgage Endowment Shortfall - Any Help Welcomed
HOGGSHOUSE
This is my first post, so sorry if its been discussed before.
My husband's mortgage is coming to an end and one of the endowments has fallen very short of its target. After an investigation why, it was found that the Direct Debit was cancelled at some point in the past, we asked why they also stopped sending annual statements out as we may have noticed the problem if we had been informed. We would have never done it at this end, my husband has always had the same bank account, and the insurance company can't find any evidence why the DD was cancelled in the first place, as many files were lost in the transition to computerisation!!!!
They state that it is still our fault as we should have ensured payments were made, which of course we didn't, it was a small one which we didn't notice dropping off the bank statements.
Is this right? or do they have any liability.
Thanks for any help.
