    Key facts :

    House purchase

    Nov : 60,045
    Dec : 59,023

It's probably just noise, but still it's down even with seasonal adjusting magic.

My views is, nothing to see here, however if it has gone up by 2%. I bet it would be on the BBC news.

Not exactly a surprise. To beat the stamp duty increase you'd have to buy and be approved in November. If you were approved in December solicitors would generally not be able to complete that month due to the long holidays.

This is just approvals being brought forward to November ~ which was a particularly strong month.
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.

Is this something to do with expensive stereos, or Scandinavian sagas?

The only data which is noteworthy IMO is quartetly figures which show trends better, and monthly falls/rises which are BIG and unexpected. It's not worth commenting on anything else.
