Settlement figure query

Hi,

Last month settlement on my loan was 17,399.46, this month its 16,952.57.

Does this sound right? I'd have though i'd have a settlement this month which was last months minus my monthly payment of 511 quid.

Or am i being hit for settlement charges here?

    last months payment would have been partly capital and partly interest
    only the capital part would have reduced your settlement figure
