Home solicitors llp

Options
I feel like such a fool, I have appointed Home Solicitors to complete a sale and purchase and have only found out that they are probably affiliated with Wolstenholmes (firm with 1000+ negative reviews).

My buyer has received the draft contracts and the paralegal dealing with the transaction has received the draft contracts from the vendors I am buying from however, after reading so many negative reviews I don't know what to do.

Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.....I am really stressed about the whole saga now.

Oooh good, someone has started a separate thread re Home-Solicitors, my favourite subject at the moment.

I expect you've paid them the £300 they ask for at the start. Their terms are 'no completion, no fee'.

I'm about to read the small print to see what the chances are of getting my money back, but, as myself and my daughter (who is the purchaser) felt they would lose her the property she wanted, we de-instructed them two days ago.

The new conveyancer is across the road from the estate agent and only along the road from the vendors' conveyancer. Have to pay another £800 in total as new searches have to be taken due to them now being out of date as HS took soooooo long to do anything at all.

My advice would be to do the same and worry about getting your money back later. Believe you me, it will be worth it in the long run.
  • Yes I have paid the £300 however, my buyers solicitor has allegedly received the draft contracts so I am in a muddle. Having said that I am still not confident paying this firm thousands of pounds for my new purchase.

    I am truly stressed!
  • Honestly, don't worry. Speak to your buyer (or get your estate agent to do it). Tell them the situation and that you have no intention of not going through with the sale. This is an exceptionally unusual situation but I can't imagine that all parties concerned won't be understanding.

Within an hour Friday afternoon, all parties involved in my daughter's purchase had been informed and the vendors' conveyancer had sent all the new paperwork through to her new conveyancer. Her financial adviser was immediately on the case by getting a new offer issued in the new conveyancer's name.

More happened in that hour than had happened in the first two months with HS.

This is very sound advice. Only use solicitors who you believe you can trust. I think everyone is going to be very wary about those who have been connected with WH and seem to be practising to the same disastrous business model. At worst, those behind WH may have created Phoenix firms to enable them to corral the victims and carry on. At best, those involved with WH will have been used to working in an environment with non existent professional standards.

Having had several communications today with Home-Solicitors, I can report both parties have reached a mutually agreeable conclusion.:)
  • Gemini please share more did they give you a refund? I am so confused they told me today that we will exchange next week and complete on the 19th Feb....

Are Home solicitors the same firm as WH?
  • I have recently instructed Home Solicitors LLP for convayancing our sale and purchase. We are still at the early stages (no contracts have been exchanged yet) but have paid them a deposit of £450.00.

I'm extremely concerned that these guys may, in some way shape or form have been (or have been in the past) associated with Wolstenholmes.

I was wondering whether anyone has received a good service from these guys and whether they can be trusted? (I can only find negative comments on the web)..

    Any comments/advice would be welcome...
