Losing Motivation - HELP

Just looking for a bit of support.

I have been going to the gym for 6 months now. First 3 months was only twice/week (was on a special scheme so couldn't do any more than this) 1 hour each time twice a week like I said. An hour of cardio - bike, treadmill, cross trainer, rower, stepper various ammounts to add up to the hour didn't miss a week.

During this time modified my diet (we all know what the bad stuff is and what not to eat right??)

Well after 12 weeks of this I had PUT ON 1kg.

My shape had changed so something was going on - just no weight loss (I weigh 15 st and am 5'6 BMI 33 - 34 ish)

So I joined the gym and for the last 3 months I have been going 5 times/week. Yes really (had 1 week off over xmas) but between xmas & new year I went 4 times and then back again Jan 2nd.

I do at least 1.5 hrs every time I go. I have added jogging on treadmill (used to do just walking fast) I'm up to 18 mins nonstop jogging - well chuffed. Also do upper body & lower body weights and resistance programme. Try to mix it up each time I go so don't do exactly the same each time.

Shape still changing - face is now v slim, collar bones show. Have muscle deffinition on my abs icon_mrgreen.gif

But still no weight loss.

I know I need to keep going - my fitness has improved greatly it would just be nice to lose a little bit of weight. I have abs for heavens sake. I just seem destined to have a BMI of over 30 and be Obese to go with them!!!!!!!!!

Can I have a hug please?????????

Thanks
x

  • It means you've lost fat but put on muscle. Muscle burns more calories to maintain than fat, or in other words your metabolism is now faster than before. So the weight loss should start to show up soon.

It might be worth buying some scales that show you your fat percentage, and look at that instead of your weight :)

    Thank you LittleMissA.

Yay - I know what they say about muscle weighing more than fat.

I hope you're right about soon. Six months is AGES!!!!!!!!

Just wish my enormous cellulite ridden thighs would give up some of their fat

Am still in size 22 trousers - although only have 30 inch waist (need to get them altered as they fit great on the leg) couldn't buy a smaller size as wouldn't get them on.

I am very out of proportion and it's a frustration. Clothes aren't made to fit my shape so I always wear poorly fitting clothes. Only adds to my woes! :(
