Nerw Job, Old Employer Issue

I have been working for my present employer for 4 months now. Initially I was on a 3 month probationary period which was extended by another month. Due to the stress of the job I have been off sick the last 4 weeks and am now leaving for another job.

I told my boss last Wednesday thinking they would have let me go right away due to me being off anyway. However, they are holding me to the weeks notice as per my contract which is fair enough.

My new employer wanted me to start tomorrow but now have given me a start date of the 8th Feb. my issue now is that my last sick line took me up to Friday so technically I am ok to resume work now. However, my boss has just asked me to meet him on Tuesday to hand over company car and other equipment. Would I be correct in expecting to be paid for the Monday and Tuesday this week?

As I have been on SSP for the last 3 weeks I can ill afford to lose 2 more days pay especially since I will be officially "between jobs" Wednesday to Friday this week.

when did you hand your notice in or when is your last day at work?

    I should read properly!

Yes I would expect to be paid for Monday and Tuesday but the employer would expect you to turn up for work on the monday and tuesday unless they have expressly told you not to come in (and you would require this in writing so that they can't screw you over at a later date)
