question about credit report

hi, looking for some insight into a problem with a credit report, hubby requested a copy of his report yesterday from equifax to take advantage of the free trial. We moved house a yr and a half ago and the person who moved into our old house had the same surname as us, whilst reading through the report we noticed at the bottom of the section for credit agreements etc, we could see items about this person, there was no financial association with him and he doesnt' appear on the financial association part of the report so why are we able to see this information. If he was to request his would he see Dh's information.
Hubby will be phoning equifax tomorrow to see whats going on but just wondered if anyone knew why the report would be like this. I requested my report to see if he was on mine but it wouldn't process through so i can't even check with that,
