hello dib-dab.
If your husband is made redundant do you have to buy your own air tickets to get out.
If he does not have a contract does he have to leave with one day's money.
how much do you have saved up today. (What currency is it in)
If you spend all your time in worry about the bad stuff why not activate your mind on making your exit plan waterproof.
Finally have you shared these worries with your husband.
His company will provide his air fare so we would only have mine to pay for and we should have enough air miles soon to cover that if needs be.
The only money we have saved at the moment is our rent ready for the next quarterly cheque to be paid.
Yes my husband does know my worries - we are both very aware of our situation which is good as we are both very determined to get our debt paid off. He doesn't worry as much as me but not because he is burying his head in the sand, just because he chooses not to let it rule his life and instead will only let it really really worry him if it came to a point where we were actually in trouble. He does know how much I worry about it though, I would go mad if I couldn't talk to him about it.
Thanks for your reply - always good to have extra points of view on the situation.0 -
Dib-dab,
I forgot to mention, you may look in envy at others spending, remember while you spent your £38000 to get into debt others were envious of YOU.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Remember you need internet connection to use your airmiles (most of the time) make sure you have an internet back up plan if the internet goes off line at home due to redundancy. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0

Yes very good point. I'm not actually in envy of their spending as only think how much money some people seem to be wasting - I am just envious of people who are debt free and have savings. But I do know that although I look around and assume that we are the only people in debt that is very unlikely.
You are so right - people were envious of our big wedding, amazing honeymoon, nice cars etc but they wouldn't be so envious if they knew our situation now!0 -
was just wondering...is there any deals with hotels for long stays? not sure if it would be cheaper to stay there than rent?

I don't think so - we did look at that before but that was a while ago, I could check again. However we are tied into our rental contract until the end of July so wouldn't be able to get out until then. Thanks for the suggestion, I will have a look at this for when our rental contract is up.0 -
Granted your OH would get a lower salary in the UK but the lower living costs should cancel that out. Also, you could get a job (which I imagine is difficult in Dubai)0

True - but I doubt he would even be able to find a job in the UK at the moment in his industry. Also he would be hit with a huge tax bill if he returned before the end of the tax year. And we are tied into our rental agreement until the end of July so we would still have to pay for our accommodation until then.
We can keep the situation under review though and if we think it would pay at any time to come back to the UK then we would definitely consider it as a serious option.0
