Worried DMP will be problem with mortgage

Stressing out today, we are in the process of setting up a dmp with cccs, our mortgage and current account with full overdraft provider are the same, worried the dmp will cause problem with the mortgage - its with intelligent finance. Anyone any experience of this? Worried they might say thats it no mortgage with us if you are doing a dmp.As the od has to be part of the dmp.
We are not behind with mortgage payments.

Had a week of being calm thinking we were going to get selves sorted, now back to really bad panic stations.
Thanks in anticipation of any help:A

  • Could you move the current account to another bank, to seperate your account and mortgage?
  • Hi Mama

We're with IF as well and so far no one has said anything, i had paid ooff the o/d before we did the DMP so that couldn't be an issue. No one said anything when I closed all the jars barring the mortgage and they have set up my DD for my new current account with the co-op. so far so good. I checked the t&cs of the mortgage and there is nothing to say that you have to pay from your linked account. So try not to worry about that, anyway, you are addressing your debt what right to IF have to interfere with that? Go girl, it will be fine

If your overdraft is included in your DMP (which it should be) then tomorrow get a new current account opened elsewhere, with a debit card if you can get one, but stating you do not want overdraft facilities or cheque books. Transfer all your DDs and standing orders and salaries/benefit payments. Your mortgage is your number one priority debt (ever tried paying off debts whilst living in a cardboard box?!) so there should be no issue there.

Hi mamajojo. You need to get a new current account, as you said, the overdraft will become part of the DMP. A basic account with no overdraft.
It shouldn't affect the mortgage as long as you pay it from your new account as IF mortgages are actually held by Halifax now, I think.

If you post up who you're debts are with then we can help find you a new independent bank for your current account :)
No longer using this account for new posts from 2013
  • My mortgage is with Abbey (Santander) and my old Abbey account, overdraft and credit card are all included in my dmp. No problem with my mortgage and they've not even mentioned it.

I changed bank accounts and everything is still fine with the mortgage.

    Big thanks, calming me down!
Pure dead dopey- so glad you could say you were with em too...don't want to give IF too much info before all this months dd go out. I think we need to draw cash out for food budget and fuel, before they get information from cccs and grab the food out of our little ones mouths!

We are setting up a basic co-op account- independent from all our cc seems lots of peeps go with them.

Thank you, going to try and be a mummy now the rest of today and enjoy free fun with children and not think about this all for a bit. x
