Showroom Shine Car Cleaning Service?

I bought some Showroom Shine from Ideal World just before Christmas and couldn't wait to try it out on my shabby old 1998 Renault. It took me about 20 minutes to clean the bodywork and it's been gleaming ever since. It made me wonder if there's an opportunity here for a quick car cleaning service? If I made up flyers what kind of price do you think people would pay to have their car cleaned (exterior only). £3.50?

IIf you thought that product was good then you should try a quality product like Autoglym, or Maguires. They are in a different league.

Personally I wouldn't let anyone clean my car, I would be afraid of it getting scratched but £3 -£5 is the average price in my area for what you are offering.

Showroom Shine has carnauba wax in it to build up a protective layer to prevent tar and salt from sticking to the car's bodywork. Do Autoglym or Maguires also ahve that? I'm just wondering because I have seen Autoglym in the shops but never bought it. The thing with Showroom Shine is there is no danger of scratching the car because it is applied with a soft microfibre cloth and it cleans the car very gently but effectively. I can understand what you mean about not wanting other people to clean your car though.

Thanks for the pricing advice too. :T
  • great idea :) we have a mobile car wash service operating in our area and they charge anything from 6.00 upwards depening on the level of clean, polish, etc. I have used the car washes where you see guys pitched up and they tend to charge a fiver for their basic wash and clean so I think for a mobile service you could perhaps charge a little more. Good luck with the venture

the thing with showroom shine is that if the car is muddy/salt ridden then you can smear and scratch in some dirt to the paintwork with the wax. It is best applied to a water washed car then yeh the wax works great. The mercedes garage that uses it on its cars in the show room havent been driven on the road and they water wash cars then showroom shine them before returning after servicing. Youd need public liability / company insurance if your working and charging to clean it to cover your for claims for damage to paintwork that inevitably WILL occur.

Yep I remeber seeing a programme that compared going through a car wash/ jet wash and hand clean on a garage forecourt. You expect the hand clean to be best but actually there were more scratches that way because of existing grit etc on the car that caused scratches. But they used special equipment to look at the cars surface rather than just a visual inspection.
People do pay for this kind of service. You just need to find the ones who do.
There are people who never wash their car people who will only wash it themselves and do so regularly and everysort in between. Think you need to do some local research about competition etc.
