Apprenticeship or McDonalds?

Where do you see yourself in the future? Working at McDonalds?
If no then just go for the apprenticeship! It'll all be worth it in the end! It's not like you have a future in making burgers!0 -
I get paid fortnightly at McD's and for instance i have had 8 hours this last week and the 1 before that i had 17 and this week coming i have 14 which is where i get the £100 a week even though it isnt actually per week its the fortnight divided in 2.donnajunkie wrote: »how do you manage to get £100 a week from working 8 hours at mcdonalds?
Thou for the record i was working constant 28hours a week and a fortnight after tax nd NI took home £330 which wasnt far off what i wanted in take home pay.
I know that taking on the Apprenticeship is going to be hard work especially seeing as i am hardly working atm and i will be going into a 37.5 hour week for equifilant wages to what i'm earning now BUT theres alot less chance for me to spend unneccessary so money should go further.
Though to top it off i'm in process of learning to drive and me and the missus are looking to move out around my 20th (as i'm living with her parents atm) which is April time.
Lots going on but overly i reckon its manageable.0 -

i would go for the apprenticeship myself. while it is perfectly possible to get a longterm career from mcdonalds and for an apprenticeship to fail you. i would say there is a better chance of a good future with an apprenticeship than with mcdonalds. mcdonalds isnt a longterm job for most people. try to pick an apprenticeship doing something you like, can do and were there is a future in.0 -

How very childish and disrespectful of you, Oldernotwiser. I suggest that unless you have constructive and helpful comments, you make none at all.0 -

Have you looked into the mcdonalds apprenticeships? I know our store are aiming to have 10% of the staff either gained or gaining them at the moment - I have to do a course on it in a fortnight prior to my management training so that I can do the apprenticeship socs in store and mark exams etc.0

Have you seen the film "The Pursuit of Happiness", with Will Smith? I know it's fictional but the guy was in a much deeper financial trouble, and a single parent, and his training wasn't paying any wages at all. See it, very inspiration and very relevant to your situation.0

It's based on a true story.0
