experiences of survey and cashback sites

Hi there, I have just joined so please forgive my naivety:)
Having read about survey and cashback sites, then the info on this site as well as a bit of the lovely advice on these forums, I thought I would give this a go.
I plan to spend an hour or two each evening after the sproggles are in bed filling surveys, and clicking those thingies on cashback sites to earn points. I have signed up to several and so far find it fairly therapeutic. What can I expect from this? I am not after loads of money, but some amazon vouchers or similar would be nice. Is an hour or so an evening a reasonable way to go about it, likely to be enough to make it worthwhile?
Is it best to focus on a few of the most popular sites, or just sign up to as many as poss and go for it in however much time I have/until I go insane?
I am going to give it my all for a month or so and see how it goes. if you like I can come and update every once in a while to see how I get on!
Thankyou for all the advice I have found here already, and any more you might feel happy to impart:D

Ooh yes please let us know - I've never tried any of them so it would be interesting to see how someone finds it

Good luck - hope it goes well

OK well here is what I have done so far:
- created a separate e-mail account for this purpose, so that during the day I can browse my regular emails without being annoyed by spam, and of an evening I can go to my 'work' lol account and work through the lot of it
- joined the main sites listed on the 'up your income' page on this site
- bookmarked these sites in a separate folder, and preceeded the title of the main one within that folder with the word 'daily' to remind me to check them often
- spent some time filling in as much personal info as poss to increase likelihood of being invited to surveys
- filled in some surveys!

I registered on rpoints years ago, and half the money back offers come to nothing. I'd say they are all a bit of a waste of time - but that might be just my cynical old nature!!

I'd say an hour or two would give you goodish earnings, but don't expect it to be instantaneous, it's likely to take several weeks for you to earn enough to reach payout thresholds: valued opinions has a £10 threshold for example. I'd also recommend using a word document with the name of every survey site you're a member of, the amount earned on the site, the amount pending (so anything shown as pending or not added to your total - keeping a list of what each survey you complete is worth is essential for this), how many points/how much money is needed for payout, amount you need left and how much you've actually earned, this would be cash/cheques/vouchers you've actually received. I could pm you my list of this if you like, I do this with mine and note any problems with a site as well.0

thankyou that would be brilliant! I was thinking I ought to keep a track in order to work out which ones are really worth the time and so as to be able to keep on top of things but couldn't quite visualise it so thanks, if you get time I would be very grateful

naomibones good luck with this.I think you will do well with the market research companies as you have a baby. They are always looking for mothers. Also look out for a company called Pinecone Research they are the best and pay £4 a survey. They have banners on the web so click and sign up if you see one,.Good luck0

thats just about properly managed as it can be, but i for one never had any luck with the survey sites!0 -
Pinecone now only pay £3 but my mum just had an email to say they are recruiting at the moment and asking her to forward it to anyone who might be interested, so could be worth contacting them just in case.
Lightspeed, Ipsos and yougov are reasonably ok. Globaltestmarket have gone downhill a bit lately - more sweepstake entries than paid ones at times.
Most of them pay in vouchers that can only be redeemed at certain sites, but I managed about £200 last year from the various sites. If you work out the rewards for the amount of time you spend, it's probably an hourly rate of about 5p an hour though, so depends how much you need the cash. And it depends on who they're looking for - I can go a week without a survey then get 5 in one night.
You do need to check the email every day as well, otherwise by the time you get to it, they've already got all the people they need.
Edit - if you've got a bit more time to spare, have a look at the competitions forum. Again, it's swings and roundabouts - I don't get much, as I don't spend hours entering comps, but it's strangely addictive, and you can ebay the stuff you don't want. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
thanks for all the replies:)
so far I have done quite a few surveys which is satisying, and have also managed to sign up to pinecone which is fab as they sound like the best. I'll be having a search of the forums to see if there are any I've missed
Its taken a bit longer to figure out the cashback sites, there only seem to be a few which have free cashback for clicks type things, its pretty dull and doesn't seem like much as I'm doing it but will give it a good shot for a month or so and see how it goes. At the mo am on rpoints, mutual points and total cashback, I think there are probably others I could join up too as well?
How long do these things tend to take to trackback? Will I see much difference after a month?
I may well do a few competitions here adn there as they always seem to come up as I'm doing other things anyway0 -
Hi - you need eagerleaner's free cashback site guide - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2132075 I understand its about £3 per day if you do them all. I think I've read that it takes a couple of months to really show the dividends from them, but after that its quite regular.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
