You may not be able to get funding for this particular course but people on means tested benefits don't usually have to pay fees for most courses.

Make an appointment for careers guidance with Nextstep or Learndirect and you can discuss what courses are suitable for you, as well as looking at what your local college offers.
  • No one is forcing you to stay home. Look for another job. If I can't do a course, I don't expect the government to fund it. I have to find that money myself, and if I don't have it I don't do the course straight away.
  • well..in reply to the last post. Id like to tell u I have worked from being 16 and through 3 children with only 6 months maternity for each. I aint getting no younger and to be honest if one of my friends who has done very little work all her life can get funded for this course then why cant I when I already hold qualifications in the subject. Its not a matter of if I can do the course or not its why cant I qualify to get funding when my mate can,jst cos Im a lone parent. solodanceparty u might just want to do any other course but I have to do this one. And I dont have a grand in my back pocket.

    Hi

Can you tell us what the course is and what qualification it leads to? And what qualifications you have at the moment?

I'm not being nosey but it may be that there is another source of funding available to you depending on your circumstances?

Also have you tried your local Nextstep office? (www.direct.gov.uk/nextstep) ? They may know of local funding that is available to you?

This may well be why you can't get funding for this - why do you want to do a course in an area where you already have qualifications?

also it sounds from what you put that you are employable whereas your friend is probably not employable and as the pot isn't limitless they have to decide best where to direct the funds

Out of the two of you who would you objectively give the money to?
    Always ask ACAS

yeah the course is for paramedic and its the driving course that i need to drive an ambuulance,I have the academic qualifications. Its the driving course=

my friend does not have the academic qulifications which is puzzling me as I got told that u would expect the completed funded course would get you employed within 6 month.

    its very annoying!!!
