New Job.... lots of questions...

Options
Okay, so I've been offered a promotion within the company I'm working for, and it's going to be a drastic change to my work.

What I need to know is what I need to consider, and what I will be able to claim for.

so, I'm currently on 24k, working in an office, travelling around an 80mile round trip each day.

The new role will mean a pay rise of a minimum of 6k, with the addition of a Car Allowance (£4800pa)/Company car. There would be no fuel card. Company would pay 15p/m and 9p/m respectively.

Additionally, the new role would 80% site based throughout the UK, and 20% home based.

I'm wondering a couple of things.

On the CA/CC debate, I've read quite a few articles about which would be best, and I know all about the rebates on the HMRC rates etc. What I can't find, is whether I would be able to claim tax relief (and/or claim anything else) if I need to purchase a car, and the cost of insurance..

I'll be someone who is required to be presentable everyday, so is there anything I can start claiming for (e.g. Dry-Cleaning, purchasing suits, hair cuts, etc.).

As I'll be a home worker, will there be anything that I can claim relief on for my office?

Are there any other things I need to consider?

Thanks for any help/advice.
Martin

The 40p/25p per mile covers this so no.

If you're a TV weather presenter you might be able to but not likely for other types of work.

£3 per week if it is a condition of your employment that you work from home. If you want to claim more then you will have to back up your claim with calculations proving those costs.
If it’s not important to you, don’t consume it
