cash minder account

Is it right that they give most people this account. I really need a new account to try and sort myself out with my current bank too. I've applied for one today, but now I am a little scared.

Cheers

Yes, Co-Op CashMinder and Barclays CashCard are the two basic accounts that anyone can get, even undischarged bankrupts.

If you get turned down, ensure they applied for the basic account, no credit check and they had all the details they needed

CashMinder is a basic no overdraft account, no credit available on it so not credit checked. All they should do is an identity check. If they are doing a credit check they might have applied for the wrong one.

  • Ah bum! Will have to wait for them to get back to me I think.

I have heard of people been turned down, then having to ask why and it was a failed credit check or something silly. Ask on the Bankruptcy forum they know alot more about this account.

  • Welshangel, i think you'll get the account no problem, give them a call in the week :). I applied last year knowing i wouldn't stand a chance of getting the 'normal' account, so requested the cashminder. After about 5 days i called them to check and i had been accepted. The application had been referred to an underwriters, but was given the go ahead :). If i can get it anyone can .

  • they sorted me one out in three days, I just had to take in id. Can't recommnd them too highly, debit card, on line banking and no overdraft, suits me perfectly.

Looks like banks are doing credit checks when they shouldn't be http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2241987

  • Thank you DC, as I said on the other thread, this is really useful for me. I shall wait until wednesday when the lad on the phone said I should have heard. If this isn't positive then I shall take this and other advice I have been given into branch.

    Thank you :)
