My new SC came with it's own recipe book. Everything in it required you to brown the meat prior to putting it in the SC. I threw it away :)

  • Many years ago I borrowed a slow cooker with buying one in mind, but believing that I had to brown my meat first seemed to be contra to the whole principle....If ya gonna brown it ya might aswell carry on and cook it!!!

I returned the borrowed appliance and never thought any more about it until now....

As we seem to have ascertained that the meat and veg just needs hurling in, my next question is.....

Which is more energy efficient an hour cooking in a fan oven OR 8 hours in a slow cooker?

Energy costs....my primary concern is the 'lecky' bill, but the planet thing is not far behind!
