Franking machine

exitroute?
Hia..problems since a return to work after a 6 months absence. Many changes. Is anyone involved in franking post please? All of a sudden this has become a huge issue. Who is responsible for adding credit to it , dealing with mechanical problems and ink? Should any of these things be needed, would it be necessary to report it to a supervisor and if so, is it his/her job to deal with it? I expect each company will have a Policy on it but Policies in mine have been ignored in favour of trust and convenience due to everyone working at diffferent hours. Just interested to know how others sort it out. Thanks.

usually the office manager would deal with such things, but it can vary from company to company.0

If you have no idea what to do report it to your supervisor.0

In all likiehood there will be a maintainance contract. If a problem needs reported then whoever discovers it should either report it or ensure someone does.
Ink changes etc should be whoever discovers it needs it
God it must be hard managing people who make a meal out of everything.0 -
I am thr receptionist/accounts, I deal with the outgoing mail, so automatically get credit for the machine as a matter of course. I am also in charge of buying stationery etc.
Inform anyone who deals with outgoing franking mail. Surely one person should have this responsibility as part of their job.
I cant see why its such a huge issue, who dealt with it before you got there 6 months ago.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
May sound harsh but arnt these the questions you need to ask your supervisor/manager about? We are hardly likely to know each case for individual companies.
In the company in which I work the lady who franks the post is in charge of ordering ink, re-crediting it etc.
The machine is leased so any problems she phones them.0 -
I have to agree with Mudd.
Are you building up to something, OP, or trying to make a point? If so it might be easier just to make the point or say whatever it is than go around the houses. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
I thought there was a way of getting credit added automatically, but I don't use one these days so not sure.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Usually the person who has normal responsibility for doing the franking also has responsibility for maintenance, in their absence whoever is covering for them or their boss/supervisor.
I am guessing you have encountered a situation at work where nobody is taking responsibility for this particular job then?0 -
I order the parts, someone else fits them, and the manager tops up the credit!0
