I read somewhere a little while back that you receive 3 years worth of National Insurance Credits in the years of your 16th, 17th and 18th birthdays - even if you don't work.
Is this still the case? If so, does that mean that I have an extra 3 years of credits against my National Insurance?
(I didn't pay any NI in my 16th/17th year and only 12 weeks in my 18th year)
Also as an aside, my mum was wondering if it is possible to get a statement showing how much NI you have paid since you started working? She wants to work out how many years she has paid.

Your correct with the NI credits - you get them for the three tax years starting on 01 April prior to your 16th bithday.
I'm assuming your mother wants her NI record with regards to her state pension ?, if so she can request a State Pension Forecast which will give her the number of qualifying years she has.

My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
