Of course prices come down when foods come ino season. It annoys me when the supermarkets advertise it as if they are doing us a favour.

Supermarkets own brand goods come from the same suppliers/factories anyway so quality is the same.
I even noticed this when we had a tin of Aldi soup, and Morrisons soup, tin grooves were idential, printing on base of tin was identical, just a different label.

On the other hand Tesco can pay off if you want to use vouchers as they will take maunfacturers coupons even if you don't buy the goods. As an examlpe, recently using information from the daily newspaper thread on discount codes and vouchers I have had a number of £2 off coupons which have regularly taken £5 off of a £15 spend for me. So if you have time to check the threads over there it is very useful.
Also if you are a little thick skinned you might want to check out the tesco misprice threads on grabbit. Its not for everyone but even the occasional misprice on meat can make a big difference.

Try Iceland if there is one near to you. Loads and loads of bogofs and as long as you spend £25 you can then have it delivered free. This also means they will pack it for you at the till! Then pop over to lidl,Aldi or Tesco for your tinned goods-Iceland is rather pricey on those-altho Heinz beans are coming on offer again this week. Iceland good on cereals-100% extra free in the Weetabix box at the mo-24 for just £1. Sugarpuffs were on(may have finished now) at £2 bogof-so only £1 per pack. There is always something Pack of 15 eggs for £1-reasonbly priced fresh meat too.

I've converted to Lidl from Sainsburys and am saving on average 18-20% on an average shop. The quality is excellent, although I use the local market for fruit and veg as it's even cheaper.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I shop every other week at Lidls or Aldis, and then the other weeks use Tescos.

I was finding that I spent way too much at Tescos, and the shop is so huge, it takes me hours to get round it (no doubt buying more stuff than I actually needed).

I agree with the BOGOF rip offs. They were selling Granny smiths as BOGOF at £1.79 a bag, when a couple of weeks prior, they were £1.18 a bag!

O.H. (for her sins) works at Sainsburys and is entitled to a 10% discount, 15% at certain times but with this it is stil easily more economically advantageous to shop at Aldi and Lidl.
