Hi
Soo happy yesterday i got a letter from the council regarding a appeal i made to them in Oct as they belived they had overpaid me well as i suspected they were wrong and will be refunding me £600 very please about this as it will clear my overdraft so my question is should i close the account. I moved over to natwest in November so i could get out of the cycle of charges i was getting from Abbey and start paying the overdraft off and i had managed to clear in down to £370 so now that it is clear would it apear bad on my credit report if i closed the account i have had for 8 years also i have a abbey credit card which i have cleared should i cancel this also i do use it now and the when i forget my bank card ect but pay it back in full each month.

i *think* it is good to have a long standing bank account when applying for credit- they often ask how long have you held your account for- maybe ask about changing it over to a savings account?
re credit card if you can trust yourself not to use it for luxuries etc then it may come in handy for emergencies etc. Personally i have 1 cc that i keep ina draw and the pin number at my brothers, so if i do ever need it i can access it but its not sat in my purse whispering 'spend me' lol0 -
Hi
I have 2 credit cards as i transferd the balance from the abbey one to the 0% natwest one and am paying this off quite well £65 a month at the moment but will be £115 soon as i wil have the £50 spare which i used to pay to the OD. Can belive i spent all that really in a 8 months but am learning from my mistake now.
I understand what you are saying about the savings account but will this be a beneficial?
Ill be honest i hate Abbey/ santender and would really like to be clear of them compleatly but will this just back fire on my credit report wise?

If you want to have a credit card for 'emergencies' put it in a cup of water in the freezer. It is there if you really need it but not too handy.Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.
