Mothers Day bulbs in pots help please!

Hi

I need to make arrangements for our local beaver scouts to plant bulbs in pots and decorate the pots for our mothers day project. What bulbs would be suitable please and any ideas for how to decorate a plastic flower pot? Many thanks for any ideas.

for the pots i would suggest peel off stickers or stensils and paints should be ok if they are for indoor plants and for bulbs what about something like lillies/iris/dahlias/begonias

Thank you LJM. I like the idea of those flowers -especially the iris - would they grow quite quickly indoors please?

i should imagine so its still chilly so peeps would still have heating on and a sunny window sill would help as long as the usual watering is done then they should be fine

I did my Mum a hyacinth ( bit late for those now I guess) in a large china teacup (on a saucer) cost pennies from a charity shop and looked very good, I think smaller bulbs grouped in a normal china cup would look good too for Mothers day. Just an idea!

i like the tea cup idea something different from a pot i was thinking also of the little silver buckets you can buy i have a cropadile which i could punch holes out with and could also thread ribbon or such like through to brighten it up

  • Thanks ginnyknit. This is a lovely idea - not suitable for my large group but I might have a go myself!
