Job description on application form

I have worked for the same employer for 15+ years and within the last few years have been made a director (albeit a very junior one). My day to day role is as office manager. Is there any problem with me putting "Office Manager" on the mortgage application? Is it likely to be seen as being untruthful? If I put "director", is the lender likely to ask to see the company accouints?

If you're a director, then you're a director. To say different is to mislead.

If you have s significant shareholding in the business, lenders will then want to see the accounts. Varies from lender to lender, but if you own less than 5% of the business you should be treated as employed.

In theory there is only one 'type of director' but in practice this is not the case.

Many companies have picked up the habit of giving the title without actual appointment to the register of directors (which gives a number of priviliges, restrictions and responsibilities).

I should know a little about this - having been both types on several occasions.

In terms of the mortgage application - which is the main purpose of the post I assume - it is actually the shareholding that the lender is interested in. At 3% then it is unlikley to be an issue with any lender (whose ears normally pick up at anything over 10% or 20% sharehoilder depending upon individual policy).

Don't lose any sleep over which ever title/job description should apply.

A Director (real or titular) with less than an influencing level of shares is just a paid employee, on an employment contract, with or without additional responsibilities depending upon the legal status.
