Lentil Question

Hi oldstylers,

Sorry I know this is a repeat question because I seem to remember a similar thread before, I just can't find it!

I'm cooking spag bol in the slow cooker overnight and was going to add a handfull of lentils to bulk it out. On the packet though it states that the lentils should be boiled for 25 mins before 'serving'.

So can I just add a handful of uncooked lentils to the spag bol mix and leave it overnight to cook in the SC, or should I boil them first?

I'm going to feed it to my 14 month old DD and I'm scared of poisoning her

They cook just as well in the slow cooker.

The split lentils will not poison you as say red kidney beans would if not boiled for long enogh.

My mum used to soak lentils (those small orange ones) overnight before adding them to soup etc.
