  • I think maybe they are wising up to my grandmother always asking for a validation code when they wouldnt give here one on an over £10 purchase before xmas. as others have said, they are definitely still validating. in inverness all the assistants go have you got a card first, but i dont know how many people get validation codes.

From someone who works in boots,we are validating receipts if customers mention they've left their card at home etc,but we dont validate otherwise 'cos it's slightly more time consuming and if you havent got a card why have it validated?
We can no longer add points on manually(the computers have all changed) but the supervisor can and will do so until the end of january only as a good will gesture if without a validation code. From feb only validated receipts will be accepted.

I bought an ipod for my son off Boots website for Christmas and got a good deal with triple points.
Unfortunately it had become faulty so had to take it back to the shop today but they have now stopped selling them in store so had to have a refund. The assitant asked me for my advantage card so he could take back my triple points!! of course I did not have it with me!.
The fact is I spend all the money on my advantage card only a couple of days ago. What would have happened if I had given it to them but I did not have any points on it to deduct? would I have gone into minus points?? ???

  • When you buy online off of Boots.com, the receipt tells you to go in store to get your points added. I went into the store, asked and they told me that I had to use the machine to get the points added. BUT the machine was not working and when I told the lady this she said she could do nothing manually as it was against company proceedure. >:(

Soooooo I went back in at lunchtime when it was busy and lots of queing and stood my ground, complaining that my points would not be valid after a certian amount of time, that it wasn;t my fault their machine was broken etc etc. The lady was more than happy to put the points on for me. ;D

    Its all about timing..... ;)
  • It seems you can get your points added, just say your waiting for a new card or forgot it! just ask the cashier to validate the receipt! whatever that means! here cut'n'paste what customer services told me:-

In the meantime, when you go shopping in Boots, simply save your receipts and ask the cashiers to validate them and those points can be added to your new card.

Thank you again for contacting me.
