How do I collect my wages?

I am about to go BR. Some questions:

1. Once I alk out of that court room do i then go and get a Co-op Account etc for bankrupts and start using that?

2. How long does it take to get this bank account setup?

3. Can a BR person get their wages paid into say they partners account?

Your replies, wisdom and experience would be much appreciated!

Have a great weekend!

Scott

hi i set my coop account up before br and the receiver wasn't interested in this account. i took ID into the branch and it was a few days before i got the card and pin etc some people have been able to open an account with barclays on the same day.

just make sure you ask for the basic account and tell them you are going / have gone br

I agree with Confused, we set ours up over 2 months before went to court. By then all DD`s and S/O`s were up and running along with all our incomes. Told the OR in the initial phone call, said straight away she had no interest in it. She told me to ring the coop and let them know what she had said. Ours was opened over the phone and was accepted straight away but they are so busy I could not tell you how long it will take to open one. If I was you I would give them a ring and see what happens.

If I can add another question related to the OP's one:

I applied for a Co-op Cashminder account (and a basic savings account) over the phone last week. A few (admittedly, minor) errors on their part (not entering my address exactly as I had said meant it did not exactly match that on my ID) led to them 'cancelling' the originals and resubmitting the apps while I was in the branch. The told me yesterday that they had mistakenly submitted 7 applications on my part instead of 2 :rotfl: (a tad annoying for the delay, but it's not like it will jeopardise my credit rating :p ).

Anyway, the accounts (just the two I wanted) are approved and I should get the details next week. However, I get paid weekly, so if I manage to get paid into that account on Friday, but have already gone BR on Thursday, will that money be taken by the OR as an asset? At the moment I am paid into an account that will get closed (it has an overdraft), but I plan to withdraw this weeks wages tomorrow.

I've not yet told the co-op yet that I am filing for BR next week, and am not sure if I should do so beforehand.

The OR wont take your money if it is your weekly wage for your essential living costs

No your money will be safe. My wages got paid into the account on the day I went BR and nothing was said about it. As you have not told the coop of your upcoming BR, I would be careful of using the savings account, as I have seen peeps on here who have been refused a savings account with them even after being discharged. I actually told them when applying for the cashminder account that I was going BR.

I agree with dojo, don't put any money into the savings account.
