It Still Sucks........Big Time!

Hello to all you regular posters and all you new ones too.I haven't posted on here for a while. I'm a bit depressed as a matter of fact. I'm in debt by about 12.5 k and at the beginning of the year I thought I would clear a cool 2k of it because I thought I had a cool job then the boss goes and lets me go. Now i'm lucky if I have £30 a week spare to live on after I have paid my minimum bills and loans.I used to post on here quite a lot and now I think I will start again because on what I'm earning now my debt is hardly moving anywhere and I need to have a right old moan. James240 and others i'm glad to read you are still doing well and clearing that debt.I'm trying my hardest to find a well paid job but I never see anything I like and I'm with every agency (practically in town) and they are useless.Anyway time for me to go to work now so just a quick moan and i'll catch up with everyone later.Loubie xx

£30 a week isn't so bad. Not great, but could be done relatively comfortably if its just you? What do you have to pay out of that?

Sorry to hear your woes. This happened to me. I had my lightbulb moment and then it went pear shaped. It took me a while to get back on track but I am getting there more determined than ever. You should post a new SOA and someone will help.

And I have to say when I saw that you had £30 a week left over AFTER you have paid loans and bills I thought you were quids in. Sorry to sound harsh but it is better than being in the negative. At the moment that is all I have about too.

Good luck, don't be disheartened, keep going and keep posting.

Glad to have you back :)

Not posting on here is like a mild version of sticking your head in the sand (I know, I've done it! :o ) so I'm glad that you've decided to join us again!

Good luck with the job hunting, I'm sure something will come up soon.

I understand what you mean about the £30 left if you're lucky. If thats with only making minimum payments then it probably doesn't feel like you're getting anywhere, (((hugs))). Its great, though, that you can still manage the minimums and as soon as your situation improves you can speed up that debt free journey again!

Chin up, we're all here to support you :D

    Hi loubie_lou.

Really sorry to read you lost the cool job, what a sickener.

Just wanted to say though, that remember some of the positives:

    You are working
    You are meeting your payments
You do have some spare cash every week
This is temporary....you will find a better job.

I've been registered with agencies in the past before and can totally sympathise with you on the "useless" ones. I've walked out of offices before after going through the same old monotonous boring routine of filling out forms, doing tests etc and I remember thinking how !!!!!! the person dealing with me was...you could almost hear her thoughts of "I can't wait to get out of here tonight and this fool is keeping me here...I could be on a sun bed right now..." <or something like that>.

My advice would be, home in on the best of the bunch and hassle them till you get a placement, do an outstanding job and then hassle them for another placement. A couple of good jobs under your belt and you will be one of their top temps (I presume you are temping?). They will want to place you and they will put you forward for good permanent jobs they get too.

Remember agencies & the newspaper are not the only sources of recruitment. Check out the local Council's website, any big organisations in the area...they will have recruitment sections on their websites too....maybe even put together a mailshot of your cv & covering letter to all the companies you'd like to work for in your area.

I did the latter where I live with English Nature a few years ago. They did actually call me and I got down to the last 2 interviewees!

Anyway try and keep your chin up and - sorry if it's corny - count a few blessings. Things could be worse...and soon they will get better.

    Big hug.

Ok I should thanks my lucky stars I have spare money each week!Good Idea about the mailshots. I'll give that some thought! Oh well back to emailing my CV to another two agencies. I'll see if they can pull their finger out!See you all soon!

Likewise! It can be really hard when you think you've got a handle on things though and then your circumstances change and it all screws up again.

So sorry to hear about your job. Keep your chin up - the sun is shining and you sound so determined and positive I'm sure you'll find something soon.

I know how you feel though - it's heartbreaking when you've done your best and they "let you go".

A similar thing happended to me last week - I was really hurt and upset because I had worked my socks off for them. However, now I've had time to lick my wounds and mend my pride a bit I've made a decision.

This will never happen to me again - from now on I'm going to work for me, going to start a little business & sink or swim by my own efforts. I will never allow anyone to do that to me again. I don't really mind what I do, I am hardworking and positive and can turn my hand to most things.

Oddly enough it happened to my husband about 10 years ago. He went self employed and although his business can be a bit up and down he says he would never go back to working for someone else now.

Not sure what the future holds for me workwise but at the moment I'm decluttering like someone possessed - ebays, car boots etc. Some of our stuff is too good for car boots so might try antique fairs/bric a brac stalls.

A couple of years ago I trained as a beauty therapist (just for fun really). From September when my youngest goes back to uni I will have a spare bedroom which I could convert to a treatment room. Between market stalls and beauty therapy I think I can earn what I need.

Anyway just wanted to say good luck, don't let it demoralise you too much. The debts might take a bit longer to clear but at least you have enough to manage on for now.

    Keep us posted.

Welcome back Loubie. I've missed your posts and wondered how you were getting on after losing your job. (The rotters!) Did you make a claim against them thro' your union or something?

Good luck with finding a new job.

Getting a bit off-topic, now, but if you're going to do that, don't splash out masses on equipment, especially if it's for treatments where people don't have to lie flat on their backs - in other words, if a reclining chair would suit, look out for business auctions selling off things like dentists' chairs; one guy I read about made a fortune buying up these and selling them to reiki practioners etc working from home.
