the john lewis1 is very good but im not really up for spending £1k, when the just as equally similar tesco one is £550 with the main issue being it wont fit in my room

any help would be much appreciated

Any sofa beds like the ones you show that the mattress folds up have thin mattresses, to allow them to fold. I have never seen one with a good mattress. You wouldnt want to fold a good mattress because that would damage it.

There are other styles of sofa beds that the back folds down, so you are lying on the cushions of the sofa. So i would think if you get a good quality on of these, it would provide better support. The one in the link isnt what id call good quality but if you could get this design with pocket springs instead of foam cushions, this would be best.

Friend of mine has been sleeping on this one for last 3 years with no back problems. He bought the most expensive mattress.

    Hi,

I spent a lot of time looking for a decent sofa bed with a good mattress, some of them are shockingly bad including ones in DFS which are £££.
We were also limited for space so needed something small.
We went for slumberland scholar from sofabedgallery.co.uk (sorry can't post link)
It has a 13cm fully sprung slumberland mattress, comes in different colours and you can even get a chair one that converts to a single bed.
It is for everyday use, this is by far the best mattress for the size of sofa I could find.
I have slept on it and others that have used it all report a good nights sleep, though its not the same as sleeping on a proper bed it does the job.

Sofa is 125cm wide (sofa and bed) and £499
Width 125cm (sofa and bed position)
    Height 89cm
    Depth in upright position 104cm
    Length in bed position 190cm

    Hope it helps

thanks all for your great advice. im going to shortlist the one you mentioned elf, even tho i was looking for one that had a sofa style to it i.e. arms, this one should be easier to squeeze into the bedroom, smaller size (can probably fit another one :P) and the colour will complement the dark floorboards.

There was a thread on here where a number of people were complaining that the John Lewis sofa bed they bought wasn't up to being used on a daily basis. So when they complained about it John Lewis said that they couldn't replace it because it was only designed for occasional use.

Have you considered a futon bed? Then if the mattress wears out you can just buy a new mattress for it.

    Hi Guys,

Saw this thread and I am also looking for a cheap sofa bed. I am planning to use it for my guest.
My budget was to spend 350£ for that.
I found 2 websites (nabru.co.uk and intosofa.com) who does in that range.
I am looking for these models.

    intosofa.com/products_sofabeds.asp?range=7&type=Extra%0Large%20Sofa%20Bed

    or

    nabru.co.uk/product/sofabed/Sui+2+Seat+Double+Sofa+Bed

Please let me know If your know any other website with similar type of sofa beds (within my budget) and let me know your thoughts regarding the same.

If they are not good, I will go to ebay to buy somthing.

    thanks
  • Hi,

Just seen this thread and thought i would say that myself and my partner purchased a normal sofa from Intosofa about 4 years ago due to not being able to get a sofa into my flat at the time and Intosofa are self build,

Its now 4 years old and still going strong. No problems with it at all and foam is still good. We have moved twice in the 4 years and everytime we move we just take the sides off the sofa and base apart and easy to transport in the car.

  • Just thought where abouts are you as Nebru will let you have a look at the sofa they have on display as we went to visit them few years back when we was looking

Intosofa does not have any showroom
