    Thought as much - my salary should be enough to get us almost there but appreciate it would be likely to work if she earned more money.

    What would she have to earn for it to be certain? As the other option is for her to apply for jobs in her old industry when we get back ( where she still got quite a big network) and may be a way of ensuring we get the mortage?

    You should be there or thereabouts.

    However, however the extra income, and lower multiples could bring more lenders/rates into play.

    Being employed would make it easier definitely.
