Yeah, theres nothing that improves quality of like quite like paying tens of thousands of pounds more for a property than the vendor did a few years ago.
Especially if you're not a cash buyer and you get to enjoy paying off a truly massive mortgage for 30 years as well.
This is after all the British way.0 -

Agreed - but the great thing about this country is that it's their choice.0 -

So the only other option to home ownership is homelessness?
I could have sworn there was other alternatives, though I may be wrong...."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

Yes, the alternatives are a council estate (virtually impossible to get into unless you are a special case) or having the security of a 6 months tenancy.0 -

The only alternative to home occupancy is homelessness. And there seems to be a concerted effort to make the former as expensive as possible. Whether you rent or buy.
However as M. Thatcher says, you can't buck the market.We'll see.0 -

Lets not forget housing associations."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

Same as council, couple on modest income with no kids, no drug habit etc. forget it.
Oh well, it looks like you'll just have to work hard, save up and get a huge mortgage, just like the rest of us."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there.
