In 2006 my CitiFinance Europe Credit Card debt was sold onto CapQuest.I paid CapQuest and my Credit File reflects this from CapQuests's side yet CitiFinance Europe still show this as open and obviously as a Default.I have phoned, faxed, you name it but cannot get anyone at CitiFinance to do anything about this.The Credit Expert team are also trying to contact CitiFinance, again, without any luck.Does anyone have any suggestions or better still have a good contact in CitiFinance.Many thanks for any advice you can give.

I don't think the default will get removed, but they could state the account is closed. I would write to them requesting your credit file be updated to show that the account is closed. If they don't, write a letter of complaint stating that they are in breach of the Dapa Protection Act and will report them to the ICO.

Defaults usually stay on your file for 6 years after they are put on (unless you paid the amount owed within 30 days of receiving the default notice)
