Making money from a company car?

I have a company car (VW Passat estate) with fuel card used for personal travel. Is there any legal way to make extra income using the car - without invalidating the insurance? i.e. taxi or courier work requires extra insurance, which in turn requires that I am the registered owner and keeper.
Thanks in advance and apologies if this is a duplicate thread.

I used to work 2 jobs, one with a company car, the other as a home care worker for social services at the week-end and evenings. They pay good mileage, 50p per mile and that was in 1999. So, although I was only earning £200 a month, I was actually taking home another £200 in expenses, which weren't expenses for me because my company was paying for the car, including fuel.0

I would be careful . Make sure there is not a mileage tracker fitted into your car.
Also many moons ago I had the soul-destroying job of analysing fuel card invoices and splitting the mileage/fuel purchased into company and private use. This highlights a pattern of use over a period of time and also highlighted who was playing silly beggars with the amount of fuel purchased. I don't want to worry you but just be careful.Must learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D
Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p

Thanks nametaken. Useful post. 50p a mile was a very good rate, especially for 1999. All i need to do is find part time secondary employment - i might look into home care work...0

tryingtobegood - thanks for that, it's OK I don't work at either of those places anymore BUT when I did work for the company that provided the car, it was agreed in my contract that all fuel would be paid for, so I don't feel that I was actually doing anything untoward IYSWIM. Certainly, no-one ever queried it and I wasn't particularly high up in the organisation.
Anyway that was 10 year ago and I expect companies have tightened their belts since then. I certainly wasn't given unlimited fuel allowance in my new job.0 -
