Help with working out tax

in Cutting tax
i was unemployed between june 09 and dec 09 so paid no tax, i now have a job with nhs and am on tax code 647L, paid tax since i started, if i have allowance of 6400 should i be paying tax? as i havent reached my allowance yet?

so 647L m1 or 647L nocum?
did you give a P45 in when you started the new job?0 -
my tax code on payslip is 647L NONCU
and yes i handed in my p450 -
is anyone around that could help with this as totaly stuck???

647L noncu is any energency tax code so you are being overtaxed.
if you have handed in your P45 I would suggest you speak to your payroll people about why they have put you on a noncu code0
