Just when I thought we may start to get our act together and some silly pensioner has trashed the motorbike (and nearly my husband too!). Cost £200 to recover the bike! Goodness knows what it's gonna cost to fix, it's fairly well mangled. Technically we should get the money back from her insurance but she's foreign and I'm half convinced she'll do a runner
Calling the insurance company this morning. Wish us luck.[STRIKE]DFD 22/7/14[/STRIKE]

well, after finding out that the anniversary of our MOT wasn't honoured last year  I have now got to get the car sorted so I can tax it when it runs out at the end of this month so all our good work in reducing the overdraft and budgetting has gone out the window to the tune of a few hundred pounds (for the THIRD month running).
I don't think I mentioned it but last month D was involved in a RTA (not his fault and he's fine) and totalled his bike which cost us £200 to recover and £60 insurance on the hire bike. We should get the money out but it screwed us short term
Bearing all of this in mind and with the promise of some early inheritance money when his Dad sells his house in the next few years we've made the tough decision to take the money we've overpaid on the mortgage out and use it to square the overdraft and start paying FIL back. It shouldn't cause us too much financial hassle as, luckilly, we can save the money we owe FIL in our offset account for the time being so it still benefits the mortgage.
Hopefully once the overdraft is back to black we can slowly reduce it and get the budgetting back on trackStuff is looking up.
