Women may have been the butt of many male comedians' jokes, but queens of comedy such as Whoopi Goldberg, Roseanne Barr and French and Saunders have bitten back and long reigned victorious both here in the UK and the USA.
Dawn French is to host a new BBC programme looking at the legacy of funny women including Victoria Wood and Tracey Ullman. But we'd like to know who you rate as the all-time funniest women on TV or radio?
We've compiled a list of 40 performers and restricted our criteria to those who first came to recognition on the stand-up comedy circuit, in sketch shows, or who are best known for writing and performing their own material. But if you think we have made a glaring omission, you can nominate someone else.
Cast your vote now and you could be in with a chance of winning a Philips 15PF4121 15" LCD TV, which features Crystal Clear Image Technology, Virtual Dolby surround sound and anti-reflection screen sharpness adjustment. It can also be used as a PC monitor.
The closing date is Thursday 13 July; please note that this survey is open to UK residents aged 18 or over only.
