Tan boots + grease stain, help please

Hi everyone
As the title says, I've got a pair of tan leather boots and I noticed today that they have acquired a grease stain. It's happened during today, and as it's right in the middle of the top of the foot of the boot (if you see what I mean), I would really like to get rid of it.
I have searched and found two possibly useful threads here - one didn't work and the other said to use cheap cologne , but was for a leather sofa.
Has anyone got any ideas, please? They were my birthday present from the OH and are lovely - I really would hate to ruin them.
Thanks!
T xx

Try leaving talcum powder on the stain for an hour or so then cleaning off with a soft brush. It worked for me.0

I used cornflour on my Ugg boots. Rubbed in then brushed out with soft suede brush. Worked brilliantly xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
