Ocean Finance

Hi all

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I am writing on behalf of a friend of mine.

She took out a loan with Ocean Finance a couple of years ago. Her husband was working, so they had no problems paying back the repayments.

This summer, he developed a problem with his heart, and has been seriously ill ever since. The doctors have said that he can't go back to work for at least 6 months and only then if things improve.

As he was self employed, this has caused numerous problems, but all the other companies (mortgage, credit card etc) have been really good, and just asked for a token amount each month to keep things ticking over.

Ocean finance won't budge. They want the full amount each month and my friend and her hubby are at their wits end.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Ocean Finance, and are there any tips on getting them to actually listen to my friend. They don't want the debt cancelled (although if they go bankrupt Ocean wouldn't get a penny), they just want it put on hold until he is well enough to go back to work.

Any help gratefully received
Tracey

  • Tell them to visit CAB and get help advive, they will talk to ocean on their behalf
  • Thanks Woodbine

She has already been to CAB, but Ocean Finance wouldn't budge, thats why I asked on here, in case anyone knew of someone with a concience who works for O.F. - who would give them a break, but they are obviously don't have human beings working there!!!

    Thanks anyway

Was it a secured loan? Companies who lend you money secured on your property can be very difficult to deal with. Keep plugging away at them but in the meantime make a token payment whether they agree to it or not.

If it is not secured but a largish loan it is even more important to make token payments. Being difficult to deal with can be a tactic to get you into court and go for a charging order ASAP.
