George Soros, the hedge-fund billionaire who made a fortune from speculating on sterling's weakness in the early 1990s

Has he done anything since ??
Mr Soros - who was one of the few financiers to predict the 2008 financial crash

If I had a quid for every ego-maniac who claimed to be one of the 'few' .... I'd be a billionaire too

Given the recent economic data, i.e. 0.1% quarterly growth, in the context of massive government stimulus, an extensive bailout (i.e. subsidy) to the financial sector, and a massive expansion of the money supply – holding interest rates at 0.5% and printing £200 billion of money, he's right to say the outlook is bleak. The government has 'ended' the recession in a completely artificial way by simply throwing money at the problem, which will become unsustainable when investors start to refuse to buy new government debt.

The dire state of this country's economy must be obvious to any outsider - I don't see anything controversial here.
