Slow cooker tips

Thanks to you lot I bought a slow cooker and have got some lovely results with it but I have a question, can you re-heat cooked meat in it?

I usually cook a joint at the weekend and save the rest for a mid-week meal but I would love to prepare it earlier in the day as I'm usually knackered after running around after the kids and house all day.

I usually make gravy and cook the meat either in the oven if it's on or on the hob for a while to re-heat it but thought if I could throw it in the slow cooker at lunchtime then I would be more likely to prepare a proper meal for us all.

It's not recommended to re-heat cooked food in a slow cooker because it doesn't get to a sufficiently high temp quick enough to kill any bacteria on it. Perhaps you could cut the meat into strips and cook as a stir-fry or something else that would be quick?

Not something I would advise - besides, sliced cold roasted meat is probably best served that way, cold sliced! (Cold cuts ;) )

What you *could* do, is to slice the meat into slices, lay a piece of wax paper/grease proof paper between each slice and freeze it. That way you can take out the required number of slices in the morning and they will be defrosted by teatime to have as cold cuts with say mash/veggies or chips/pickles.
