'According to Pinch, by David Willetts, a Conservative frontbencher, the generation born between 1945 and 1965 have been left with a disproportionate share of the country’s wealth.'
and later in the article:
'But Mr Willetts argues that the baby boomers have amassed an unfairly large share of the national wealth, and that many rules and policies are currently tilted against their children taking a larger share of that wealth.'
Quite an interesting article, I think the true impact has yet to be felt. My parents cleared their mortgage by my age and we are just about to take on a new big mortgage. Sign of the times I think.

I didn't know that I just fitted into the 'baby boomer' generation, having been born in 1965! I don't feel wealthy though.0

I am 1963 and feel the above too.
My parents didn't have to fork out for half the things we have to.....free college/uni for starters.0 -
I understand that David Willetts was born in 1956 and has an estimated wealth of 1.9million
maybe this baby boomer would like to donate some of his wealth to some good causes0 -

He had his snout firmly in the expenses trough too.

The baby boomers are at the top of the pyramid scheme. All other generations are keeping the pyramid up. It's unsustainable.0

Younger generation are just too apathetic & hedonistic to do anything about it - they should be making their voices heard in Parliament rather than leaving it to the current lot of self-interested fossilised MPs0

I get really fed up with this is a surprise that older people have more assets than younger I’ve been paying my mortgage for nearly forty years is it strange that own more of my house than someone who is 20 years younger.
As for paying for your university education think yourself lucky you have a chance to do it. Back in the sixties very few people had the chance to go to university I had to spend 11 years of day and evening classes to get a degree level education.
Perhaps we have benefited from hpi but whose to say that the present generation won’t and if there is a massive house price crash we will lose it all anyway.0 -
WOW - how did the most spoilt generation EVER manage to make themselves into victims!?
They have had more material things than any other generation, more educational & job oppotunities, better health care, everything and they are MOANING!
If they gorged themselves on debt, they only have themselves to blame.0
