But there's a distinct difference between owing money to a corporation/business/bank and owing money to a relative.... The lender needn't really worry about the money from mum because it'll come at the bottom of the ladder when/if things go pear shaped.

As far as a lender is concerned money owed is money owed! It doesn't matter if it is tom, !!!!!! or harry!..
