Mortgage help

Hi, just wondered if anyone could give me some advice.

Through no fault of our own (just a lovely ex-wfe) my husband was defaulted in 2006 for £1061, we found out in 2007 and promptly paid £1200 after finding out we'd legally have to. The loan company has been chasing for the interest added of £650 which we were trying to negotiate, but ended up paying last Nov.

We didn't actually realise that a settled default is no better than a non paid one and have been trying to get a mortgage for the last 4 weeks and have been turned down twice. Both mortgage companys Abbey and nationwide use experian for their checks.

After a long winded process of trying to get equifax to get their credit facts straight it appears that they have made a mistake (hopefully) and have the default date settled as the date of default 10/06. Seeing we have nothing to lose do you think we should now try getting a mortgage with an equifax user like 'RBos'? They appear only to take defaults into account if in the last 3 years- There also appears to be no searches made on equifax's reports in the last 12 months??

Thanks - Hope someone can help.

So where it asks on the application form, whether you have had any defaults, and details of the defaults - what are you going to put?
