Forgot to update on this. Oops.

I had the surgery last November, a couple of days after I came back from my honeymoon. The surgery was successful and I had adjustable stitches as it allows them to move the muscles if it needs adjusting.

However, 10 months on and my eye is drifting out again, which is really upsetting me because I was so happy to not be "cross eyed" anymore and now I am again. :( I had an operation on the same eye when I was 3 and the operation last year so I'm not sure if they can operate again. :(

Oh. Please be cautious here and I don't want to cause alarm. I know that everybody is different and surgical techniques have advanced enormously over the decades. As a child I had a squint surgically corrected. That bit worked fine. Go forward about 25 years and cataracts (many many small ones) were found in that eye, add another 15 years and I'm now on the glaucoma watch. My consultant suspects that the surgery is the prime suspect and that there is too much risk involved in attempting to remove the cataracts.
You should examine (with the appropriate medical help) all the options but be sure to properly evaluate all the possible risks before electing for further surgery. Lastly I hope you find a solution that works for you.

I have double vision and have to keep closing one eye, normally my left but either will do, to get rid of it. They tried Botox at first , twice i had it injected into my left eye and it helped a little as it relaxed the muscles but it would have meant having more injections every few months for the rest of my life. So i opted to have an operation where they cut the muscle at the back of one eye in an attempt to shorten it. I've had this done twice now but each time my vision has drifted back.
The consultant is undecided whether to try again, he's said i need to consider that any operation can go wrong and i may find myself with even worse vision, so at the moment i have to go for regular checks and will have to wait and see.
I use to drive for a living and needed to give up that but up to now the hospital say i'm ok to drive my car, although i don't drive a lot.
Lady M, do you find bright lights annoy you ? Could be the sun of a daytime or headlights at night.

Thank you for all of the replies.

SailorSam - Bright lights do annoy me, but I have M.E which causes a light sensitivity for me.:o Look like a right pleb walking around in winter with my sunnies on.:o
Luckily I've never had double vision as a consequence of my squint because both my eyes don't work together. The consultant said that if I started getting double vision then something would be seriously wrong.:o Apparently when I was little, my brain learnt to turn off the images from my right eye (the one with the squint) and this consequently made my right eye "lazy" so I have less vision in it (but I don't really notice until I close my good eye as I only use my left eye when both eyes are open.:o).
I did have some double vision after my operation, but apparently that's normal because the eye is getting used to it's new position. I can't even to begin to imagine how horrible permanent double vision must be.

Botox was never mentioned to me but I do know that it is used it quite a few cases.

When i was talking to the consultant i told him what i was most worried about was him saying to me, ..... 'give me your driving licence and i'll swop it for a blind dog'. He only laughed and said that would never happen.
