Where can I get free samples of fabric?

I have joined a craft class and I'm going to make a patchwork quilt.
Does anyone know where I can get free samples of fabric for this please?

Just off to write some begging letting to big companies to try my luck there

Google - furniture cover companies and they can send you samples of fabrics. You can select different styles depending on the company and they usually send them for free hope this helps.

you can select up to 5 samples didnt see anything about postage
so hopefully free , they will send you a brochure with the samples.

Laura Ashley, either ring them 0871 230 2301 or go into a shop. You will need the code number of the required fabric/pattern from the catalogue. Handily all the sample swatches sent out by post are exactly the same size and I made a beautiful double bed quilt several years ago completely from their fabrics, bad girl! They don't seem to keep a record of who they send them to but limit it to 5 samples or so per phone call if I remember rightly, but I am sure you have lots of friends addresses you can use. :T
