Loan for a newbie

Hello lovely people,
I need a bit of advice. I need to get £3000 quite quickly. I probably will have to go for a loan, I have never gone for a loan before. I think i qualify because I work part time- although I am a student and I have never got into problems before with money.
What is my best bet, I am looking to pay back over about 2 years, because I can afford £150 a month...any idea for a cheap loan company that can be trusted...
Cheers

Hi Bargainhunter,
Try not to take it personally mate, you've got to remember that people only have what you type here to go on.
Can you say a little more about the situation? It sounds as if it's quite sensitive so I understand if not. But people may be able to give you suggestions about how to achieve what you need to achieve without spending anything like £3,000 - and then not only will you be less indebted afterwards but you will be more likely to be able to get a loan in the first place, which is what you want, yes?
I'm not 100% convinced you'll find it that easy to get one, if you're a student... I'm sure that in your position, the less you want to borrow, the easier you'll find it.
A further word of advice: loans often appear "cheaper" - ie have a lower APR - if you borrow higher amounts - BUT please don't be fooled into borrowing more than you actually need. They're NOT cheaper, you actually end up paying way more back in interest. Don't be swayed by people talking you into borrowing more on the phone.
And one more thing - steer clear from payment protection insurance! They will most likely try and sell you it, but my advice is don't take it.
Hope this is helpful and do say more if you can.
HFMEverything turns out all right in the end. If it's not all right, it's not the end.

Also to say, Im not sure where you are going thats going to cost 3k, even the expensive places like tokyo or australia you should be able to get a flight for less than 1k with some accom chucked in.
I suggest you ask on the holidays board, as there are some brilliant bargain hunters on there that will find the cheapest way for you to get where you are going. If you must book flights/ accom etc then try to do so via Quidco if possible to get some cash back for your purchases.
Couldnt you try and get some money from your student union as they often have pots of money to help with emergencies.
Believe me, Ive got into debt for silly holidays, I need one now, but no f-ing chance. Dont get into debt unless literally you HAVE to is my advice. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
