Bargain Chanel No 5

I may be a bit green but how can I tell if my Chanel No 5 is a fake or not?

It certainly smells like it but does not have much staying power.

Chanel No 5 has a deep floral musky smell and does last all day. There are lots of fakes around. If you buy the real mCcoy it may cost you £30/40 but it will last as a little is all that is needed. I have had mine for nearly 3 years!

It does last all day. My mum used to wear it, can still remember the smell lingering on her clothes and handkerchiefs.

Maybe you can't smell it anymore as you are used to it? Doesn't mean others can't smell it though.

Watch out for street sellers acting like its stolen goods, usually the only offence is that its cheap fake stuff that would strip the paint off the titanic

I guess really you should only buy from a known retailer. Wheredid you buy it from? In my experience Chanel NEVER do offers or reductions like other perfume makers. So if it is at a reduced price I would assume fake. I use Coco Madamoiselle and am always looking out for them on offer or in a gift set around Christmas but have never found them

mind you - if you like the perfume, does it matter? apart from the disappointment when you next buy it (the genuine one) and you hate it!

Hi - I wear this and brought it from Debenhams Chanel Counter so its genuine. It does not seem to last all day on me (but a lot of perfumes don't work on my skin well) or perhaps i just can't smell it after a bit! still love it though!

Chanel only licence certain stores to sell their products and never allow them to be discounted, so you can assume any offer you see online etc is fake.
If you got it from Debenham's I think it's highly unlikely it's a fake, unless counterfeiters have got into the supply chain!

My skin doesn't seem to 'hold' perfume, even the expensive stuff, and even those that last on my mum all day, so it could just be you, lol.
