I've just had a look at this site and registered - they are only accepting registrations until 1st February so you need to be quick.

UPDATE: After applying I had an email back to confirm they require you to be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week, so if you are available for less (like me) they wont accept you.

I've just started typing for Quicktate. It's rubbish money, but quite good fun, and easy to do.

That seems to be an American company or is there a British version too? There pay rates are indeed small at 1/3 of a cent per word. Do you get a lot of work?
  • Sorry, THEIR pay rates. Tut.

Thanks for the replies everyone, well I've just sent in my application for The Transcription Agency, and I'm looking at a couple of others - I'll let you know how I get on :)

Does anybody know how much the Transcription Agency pay?
  • I cannot remember the rate they pay now but most agencies pay from 45 per minute with the highest rate being around 75p per minute. This means agency (a) offers a 60 minute file x 45p and will pay you £27; whilst agency (b) offers a 60 minute file x 75p will and pay you £45.

Regardless of the pay rate you soon get very tired hands from all the typing, so you will need to schedule proper break times otherwise you'll end up not being able to do any work at all because of RSI.

Did anyone hear back from their Transcription Agency application/test?

I was sent a test and sent it back over a week ago, but I haven't heard anything further. Does anyone know how long they usually take?
