victorian boys outfit ideas from nothing!

Options
My son has a visit to a victorian museum tomorrow, and they all have to attend wearing 'victorian style' clothing.
I should of researched this sooner but it slipped my mind :o Obviously I don't have time to go shopping, so its a case of using whatever I have in the house, oh and i can't sow anything tonight as I have no needles in the house :o

So any ideas of what I can dress him in? :j

  • Hi,

Poor Victorian children wore hand me downs, so a beaten up shirt of his dad's? Collar's were detatchable, so you could cut it down to collar-less?

Have you got an old waistcoat? The bigger the better! Also long grey socks and cut off some old trousers to look raggy.
  • My son wore his black school trousers, a white shirt with the collar tucked in so it looked like a "grandad" shirt and a random piece of brown material tied round like a scarf

Flat cap if you've got one knocking about?
Trousers tucked into long socks, and lace-up shoes or walking boots?
  • My boys school had a Victorian day, he wore a white shirt with a woolly scarf knotted round his neck. A pair of black trousers and his flat cap - not many 4 year olds have their own flat cap :)
