Attempting to Change Jobs...

Hey everyone - dont know if any of you Mser's have any useful advice?
I graduated in September with an MSc in Management and before that a BSc in Management Science... but I have minimal work experience thats not retail based...
It took me 6 weeks unemployed after finishing, 100+ letters and therefore a fortune in stamps to find a job... which didnt end up working out. I ended up going back to work full at a company where I worked while studying. Even though this job is ok, it is offering me nothing but a basic salary, there are no prospects and I can see this. Therefore I am trying to move on, but problem is, I am struggling to even secure an interview for anything, no matter what it is!
I know a lot of you are thinking I should be lucky to have a job, but when my parents and I have spent tons on my education (and my student debt is getting higher) I feel like I should be doing a job thats even remotely relevant to my degree.
Basically, I have applied for everything, jobs that I think I am suitable for, jobs that I am not... and nothing comes from it.
I feel miserable that I cant even get a call back from a job when I think I am a fairly good candidate!
Any advice? Sorry for the post length...

Have you had friends/job centre/professionals go over your CV with a magnifying glass? That's normally the first place to start.
How many agencies have you given your CV to? They're normally pretty good at getting the thing in front of people...
Are you being fussy when it comes to where you work, salary etc?
Have to say I'm surprised by the number of stamps you needed...Have never applied for a job in the post...it's the 21st century after all0 -
I don't understand all these people that do useless degress then wonder why they can't get the perfect job?
PM me, I'll give you my email address. I'll take a look over your CV then tell you the problem.0 -
Have you looked at all the various graduate schemes large companies offer?“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Firstly, my degrees arent useless and I defy anyone to tell me otherwise and secondly, I am not looking for a perfect job, one that just offers a decent salary and will allow me to get on with my life! I didnt think that was so much to ask?? I just wanted some advice on steps forward not to be ribbed!
Idiophreak - my dad wrote my CV, he does it for quite a few people so I trust him : )
Signed up with two agencies, ones been ok but the other useless!
and the stamps thing, well it was my mums idea to try something different as she said people will physically open a letter and prob then read it where as they can delete an email... mind you it did work and she took great pleasure in that!0 -

What do you call a decent salary?Signed up with two agencies, ones been ok but the other useless!
Again, have you looked at graduate schemes? Most large companies seem to offer such a route into the organisation and you may well do better than you're doing by signing up to agencies where you'll be up against people with experience.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

And I gave you some advice. PM me, I'll give you my email address and I'll look over your CV. I've spent a fair bit of my time (not so much now) in my career sat in an interviewing chair. I know what to look for, I know what presses buttons, and I know what makes me chringe. So, if you want your "average" person who looks at CVs and gives honest opinions and feedback, then contact me privately. I won't mince my words but I'll definately help you fix anything that's !!!!.
Your dad did your CVs? How anyone can send over 100 and not get a response is beyond me. I can only think that your dad has low standards.0 -

I agree that it hasnt "been flying off the shelves" but thats not to do with my dad's ability, he just started me off on one so I am agreeing that it needs reviewing but what I have got from it hasnt been bad, so please leave him out of it!
I have looked at Grad Schemes, been refused from a lot of them unfortunately... plus I am not keen on relocating. But I am applying to more as they come thoroughout the year.
I am looking at about 18k as a decent salary. Which is much lower than the average graduate salary.0
